Der Dutchman ranked No. 2 buffet restaurant in the U.S.

Der Dutchman, the Amish-style restaurant and bakery on Bahia Vista Street, has earned another national honor, placing No. 2 on USA Today’s 2026 10Best Readers’ Choice list of the best buffet restaurants in the United States. The Sarasota restaurant moved up one spot from its 2025 ranking, when it placed third.

Located at 3713 Bahia Vista St. in Sarasota’s Pinecraft neighborhood, Der Dutchman has been serving Amish kitchen cooking locally since 1985. The restaurant is part of Dutchman Hospitality Group, which operates restaurants, inns and gift shops in Florida, Ohio and Indiana.

The restaurant offers breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet options Monday through Saturday. Its breakfast buffet includes items such as biscuits and gravy, eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, French toast, fruit and pastries, while lunch and dinner offerings include broasted chicken, ham, turkey, roast beef, mashed potatoes, homemade noodles, creamed corn, stuffing and a salad bar.

USA Today’s 10Best awards are selected through a readers’ choice process after nominees are chosen by an expert panel. This year’s top spot went to Shady Maple Smorgasbord in East Earl, Pennsylvania, followed by Der Dutchman in Sarasota and Miller’s Smorgasbord in Ronks, Pennsylvania.
